Andrew Milton. Liberal Democrat councillor for Lewisham Central, in London, England. This journal is Strictly Personal stuff. If you came here from the Lewisham Council Website, that is because it doesn't allow a direct link to a political blog: for that you need to go to my pages at 20six.co.uk. For a mixture of personal and political stuff (with photos), see my iWeb, with iBlog & the very occasional podcast. For older, background stuff which I haven't maintained recently, see my pages at http://homepage.mac.com/andrew_milton and http://www.btinternet.com/~andrew.milton . On Skype as andrew-milton and Facebook as andrewmilton and with an URL of http://www.facebook.com/andrew.milton

If that isn't enough in the way of blogs, see:
my MySpace profile and nascent blog, which I haven't really developed just yet. And I'm on Twitter as andrewmilton

Horrified to see that I've gone almost a whole month without updating this journal. As I keep saying, seem to be devoting most of my Internet energies to Twitter and Facebook at the moment.

Before I forget, would like to wish my brother Ian a very happy birthday on 23 September. Same as the Emperor Augustus. And to remind myself to do something about my birthday on 28 September. Perhaps the usual bash at the National Liberal Club? Anyone interested?

Saw an excellent film last week which I heartily recommend: Broken Embraces by Almodavar followed by quite a good weekend. Nice 50th birthday for Cllr Mike Keogh on Saturday. And a pleasant day on Sunday: missed Boney M at Lewisham Country Fayre, Open House trips to the wonderful Victorian church at St Margaret's (Lee) with its old churchyard (including Halley's tomb), the Library and Ice House at Manor House Gardens then dinner and watching Beryl Reid in "Entertaining Mr Sloane" at the Elfenbeins.

On the slightly worrying side, found myself volunteering to take over as Programme Secretary for the Lewisham Local History Society. Need to organise speakers for next year, so if anybody wants to volunteer to talk about any aspect of local history in Lewisham Borough - which includes wonderfully historic Deptford - perhaps they could get in touch. Last talk was on "Sex and Scandal in Sydenham", so you see the sort of thing that's needed :-)

Seem to be unable to stop buying new gadgets for the kitchen. Currently waiting for my Ainsley Harriot Rice Cooker from Amazon. Perhaps I really might then start taking bento lunches to work. Either way, I'm sure there are wonderful things you can do with endless supplies of cold rice. I certainly hope so as I've come away from the Japan Centre in Picadilly with a bento box, various Japanese pickles and stuff, and rather more rice than I know how to use.
